Saudi Airlines (Essay Sample) Content: Saleh Alyami Dr. Flatt, Larry BGMT 3500 24 June 2014Saudi AirlinesThe Saudi Airlines is a world-class service provider of air transport and tourist catering services. The company was formed in 192 and after duration of 20 years, it became the first airline in the Middle East to provide operation with a jetliner(Ham). The story behind the start of the airline is the DC-3 Dakota that was given the King Abdul Aziz byRoosevelt, who by then was a US president after the great meeting at the Suez Canal. In the early 40s, two more DCs were bought which saw the purchase of Bristol 170s that operated in countries such as Caro and Damascus. During the 50s the growth of the airline was increasing at a slow late, and it was at that time when new services commenced at Istanbul, Karachi and Amman and Port Sudan. Five more DC-5 Were introduced in the country, and a new model 10 conveyor was added to the airline. Due to the increased operation and expansion of the services of airlines , the ever first service and maintenance center was created.Saudi Arabia is also a member of Arab Air Carriers Organization that oversees all the transport procedures; regulation and conducts are adhered to. There is a special service delivery for the government officials and the royal families that were formed in 1976.The celebrities also use a special kind of service with different flights from the regular ones. In the divisions, there is the cargo department that deals with transportation of cargoes to various destinations using the type of flight known as B747 and MD11. The Airline has also faced major challenges through accidents, misappropriation of funds and mismanagement issues. The major issue being the accidents; there are two major accidents that have affected the company. The first one happened in 1980, during which Flight 163, a Lockheed L-1011-200 TriStar, was totally shattered by fire at Riyadh airport, killing everyone on board. The second worst incident involving th e airline happened in November, 1996, when Flight 763 killed all the passengers who were on board.Hiring ProcedureRecruitment of employees is the most vital procedure of the business, organization or company that wishes to excel in all its daily undertaking. The employees determine the efficiency in the running of the activities and the management of the resources of the organization in question. Saudi Airlines believes in having the best employees based on profession and also talent-based recruitments.For the pilots who need to have special trainings the company recruits the best pilots from the bestuniversities throughout the world and all those who have satisfying qualifications and experience ( Ham,2004). In various incidences, the airline hires the services of external recruiters who search for the best pilots and recommend them to the country. The company highly believes in the spirit of teamwork, so all the hired employees are required to have a commitment to quality, cost ef fective, team work and service to all the customers.The cabin crew team and other caterers and attendants in the flights are mostly hired on the talent basis. The minimum qualification is high school education and the knowledge about the geographical status of Saudi Arabia (Ham, 2004). The company advertises the positions on the Internet to have different employees from all over the world as long as they have a permit to work in Saudi Arabia. The airline believes in employing fresh candidates from the age of twenty two years to thirty years as these are young people who are fast learners and innovative. There are also physical specifications in terms of height and weight that is required as the capacity of the flights is limited.There is also the hospitality and catering personnel who are employed in the restaurants that provide hotel services at the stations hence making travelling for all customers as comfortable as possible.
